The Center for Metabolic Disorders and Obesity at Kaohsiung Medical University envisions a healthy, sustainable society and is dedicated to reducing the health and economic burden of noncommunicable diseases.
VISION & MISSION
From understanding disease burden to evidence-based prevention
With metabolic disorders and obesity at the core of our research, we begin with population-level prevalence studies and disease surveillance. By integrating and analyzing data, we systematically identify populations at high risk, associated factors, and predictors of disease.
Once risks are better understood, we develop and evaluate interventions involving physical activity, nutrition, medication, and health management, using empirical research to assess their effects.
OUR GOALS
Reducing disease burden and promoting a healthy, sustainable society
We aim to slow disease progression, reduce premature mortality, and lower mortality from noncommunicable diseases associated with metabolic dysfunction and obesity.
